In stock

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous ring of circular form, made from 92.18% gold, that is set with an ovoid carnelian intaglio. Incised atop the carnelian is an image of a right-facing woman clad in flowing garment and holding an ambiguous staff, perhaps depicting a goddess. Size (ring): 0.32″ L x 0.78″ W x 0.90″ H (0.8 cm x 2 cm x 2.3 cm); (carnelian): 0.33″ L x 0.22″ W (0.8 cm x 0.6 cm); gold quality: 92.18% (equivalent to 22K+); total weight: 4.2 grams; US ring size 6

Condition: Wearable as shown. Slight bending to ring shank, with abrasions and softening to finer details on carnelian intaglio, otherwise intact and excellent. Great luster throughout.

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, before 2010
