Lot 131b, Auction 3/17/2024: Five Chinese Miniature Pottery Vessels

East Asia, China, later Ming Dynasty, ca. 15th to early 16th century CE. A set of 5 hand-built pottery vessels of miniature size, each covered in either white or blue glaze. Two petite jars are decorated with floral motifs while a bottle shaped like a flower bud features gentle indentations along the carinated body. A blue-glazed jarlet features a pair of looped handles, and a squat vase bears intricate circular motifs in blue across the surfaces. Size of largest (vase): 1.6″ W x 3.3″ H (4.1 cm x 8.4 cm)

Condition: Minor abrasions and chips, with some bearing marine deposits within interiors, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to exterior decorations.

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010
