Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom to Second Intermediate period, 11th to 17th Dynasty, ca. 2130 to 1550 BCE. A modern 14K gold ring setting that displays an ancient glazed faience scarab in the swiveling ovoid bezel. The delicate composition exhibits characteristic insectile features on the topside as well as a trio of incised hieroglyphs of protection on the underside. Size (scarab): 0.56″ L x 0.38″ W x 0.22″ H (1.4 cm x 1 cm x 0.6 cm); (ring setting): 0.60″ L x 0.92″ W x 1.02″ H (1.5 cm x 2.3 cm x 2.6 cm); gold quality: 14K; total weight: 4.5 grams; US ring size: 7.5

Condition: Wearable as shown and constructed in modern times. Faience scarab is ancient; gold setting is modern. Minor abrasions to scarab, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to hieroglyphs and finer details.
