North America, United States, South Dakota, Brule Formation, Oligocene epoch, ca. 30 million years ago. A complete fossil femur of Merycoidodon culbertsoni, an oreodont, presented on a custom display stand; the bone shows a well-preserved shaft with defined articular ends and natural surface texture, with visible fossilization and mineral coloration throughout; oreodonts were herd-dwelling, cud-chewing herbivores with a compact, sturdy build, often compared to a blend of pig, sheep, and camel in form; they were a dominant presence across prehistoric North American grasslands before their eventual extinction; mounted for display, the specimen offers a clear and stable presentation suitable for study or collection. Size: 6.25″ L x 1.5″ W (15.9 cm x 3.8 cm); 6.8″ H (17.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Repaired with visible breaklines, but otherwise original material and well preserved. Old inventory label on the surface. Comes mounted on a display stand.
