Ancient Egypt, Romano-Egyptian period, ca. 30 BCE to 3rd century CE. A beautiful paste glass scarab of lovely blue color that is affixed on the swivel wire of a modern gold wire ring. The ring setting itself is comprised of 80.39% gold and forms an eye-shaped loop through which the scarab can freely move. Inscribed atop the scarab are typical insectile features, and beneath is a depiction of Nut – goddess of the sky – as she arches her entire body over the world. Size (scarab): 0.56″ L x 0.44″ W x 0.29″ H (1.4 cm x 1.1 cm x 0.7 cm); (ring setting): 0.11″ L x 1.05″ W x 1.17″ H (0.3 cm x 2.7 cm x 3 cm); gold quality: 80.39% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 5.1 grams; US ring size 8.

Condition: Wearable as shown and constructed in modern times. Paste glass scarab is ancient; gold wire ring setting is modern. Minor abrasions to scarab with softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Great blue hue.
