Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Vicus culture, ca. 250 BCE to 600 CE. A lovely pottery bridge spout vessel featuring a flared body and domed top surmounted by an anthropomorphic head, all enveloped in creamy beige pigment. Crowned by a flat cap, the stylized head features a huge nose, slit-form eyes, and slender, tubular handle that connects to the conical spout. Size: 7.8″ L x 6″ W x 5.6″ H (19.8 cm x 15.2 cm x 14.2 cm)

Condition: Professionally repaired with restoration and repainting over break lines; all done very well and difficult to notice. Loss to decoration of top of headdress and chipping with loss to spout. Nice remaining slip and lustrous burnish to surface. Old collection label on underside of base.
