Native American, Central Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Southern Colorado Plateau, Southern Cibola, White Mountain Red Ware, Puerco Black-on-Red Polychrome, ca. 1030 to 1150 CE. An attractive pottery bowl of hemispherical form adorned in the Puerco Black-on-Red tradition. Though the exterior is unadorned, the interior features geometric patterns evocative of the Southwestern United States. Women traditionally were the potters of this ancient culture, and the patterns would have had personal and/or cultural symbolic meaning. Size: 9.75″ Diameter x 4.5″ H (24.8 cm x 11.4 cm)

Condition: Professionally repaired with some restoration and repainting over break lines. Other break lines visible with perforations from old repair. Otherwise, nice presentation with good pigments and clear decorative program.
