Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Sulawesi Island, Toba Batak peoples, ca. 19th century CE. A cast-brass flask with a fan-shaped body bearing an image of a palmette leaf on each side. A leather strap attached to petite buckles extends over the top, and a screw-threaded ring cap closes the mouth of the vessel. Size: 2.4″ W x 4.75″ H (6.1 cm x 12.1 cm); 5.7″ H (14.5 cm) on included custom stand.
Condition: Leather strap is torn as shown. Minor abrasions, otherwise in great condition. Nice patina throughout.
Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, acquired from 2000 to 2010
