West Africa, Ghana, ca. early 20th century CE. A pair of antique coconut shell beads strung on sinew cords as necklace strands. The beads are carved into thin discs, often referred to as heishi beads due to their resemblance to similar beads by Southwestern United States Indigenous tribes. Both strands are similar lengths, with about 500 beads on each! Size of strands doubled: 36″ L (91.4 cm); largest bead: 0.8″ Diameter (2 cm); smallest: 0.4″ Diameter (1 cm)
Condition: Some chips and nicks, but overall great condition. Could be worn as is.
