Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 18th century CE. A collection of glass trade beads, twelve orange cylindrical beads and sixty-four of the “barber pole” style, which is striped with blue, red, and green on a white background. Trade beads played a major role in the age of European exploration and colonization, made in Europe to serve as currency in Africa, Asia, and the New World. Length of strand: 26″ L (66 cm); size of largest bead: 0.5″ W (1.3 cm)

Condition: Patina on the beads, with some wear to the color. Modern stringing.
