$260.00

In stock

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An ancient Roman silver hair ring, fashioned from a thick, rounded wire coiled into an open loop, its tapered ends overlapping slightly in a gesture of restrained elegance. This simple yet refined form reflects the Roman appreciation for utility elevated through craftsmanship. Worn as a hair ornament, it would have been threaded into braids or curls, securing strands while catching the light with its muted silver sheen. Jewelry such as this was not merely decorative but also expressive of identity, status, and personal adornment rituals. In Roman society, hair held social and cultural significance – its styling could convey rank, virtue, or individuality. Silver hair coils like this one adorned women of means, serving both a practical function and a subtle display of refinement. Size: 1″ Diameter (2.5 cm); US ring size: 5.5; silver quality: 83.7%; weight: 5.4 grams

Condition: Some flaking and chipping to surface as well as pitting and abrasions in areas. Light patina.
