Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of hand built pottery figures, a male and female couple, both standing with hands extended outward, adorned with extensive fillet details (eyelashes, headdresses, and necklaces), shoulder pellets on the male, and remains of white pigments on male’s loin cloth. An adorable couple. Size: 4.375″ H (11.1 cm); 4.625″ H (11.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Loss to upper end of man’s headdress (on back of head) and fillet trim of woman’s skirt. Liberal manganese on male figure.

Provenance: private Dr. Herbert J. Kayden and Dr. Gabrielle Reem Kayden, acquired 1960s to 1970s.
