Central Europe Bronze Spiral Bracelet – Blue Patina- Lot 85, Auction 4/30/2018

Sold

Central Europe, Bronze Age, ca. 12th to 8th century BCE. A beautiful bracelet composed of densely coiled spirals of hammered bronze wire, of the type often found in graves and hoards with swords and lugged axes. Bracelets of this style are found from the Baltic to the Black Sea, and seem to have originated in the fertile valleys that drain the Carpathians. This one has a beautiful patina, deep blue on one side, that distinguishes it from similar examples. Size: 2.6″ W x 1.5″ H (6.6 cm x 3.8 cm)

Condition: Mottled blue green patina, with a small area of loss and crack on the end of one terminal.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection
