Gorgeous Roman Glass Vase- Lot 18b, Auction 4/5/2018

Sold

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous, delicate miniature vase, probably mold-made (no pontil is present) from a very pale green, almost completely translucent glass. The glass is so thin that the vase feels almost weightless in your hand! It was made to hold oils or small quantities of some other important liquid. Size: 2.45″ W x 4.55″ H (6.2 cm x 11.6 cm)

Condition: Intact, with a silvery/rainbow iridescent patina and pale deposits.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000
