West Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba, ca. mid 20th century CE. A diviner or priest’s textile bag, its wide front-facing flap decorated with a colorful beaded motif of a kneeling woman holding a pot on her head, surrounded by colorful symbols. Size: 9.1″ W x 9.75″ H (23.1 cm x 24.8 cm)

Condition: Wear to textile surfaces, especially on the strap, with some fraying to the sides and ends. The beads are in very nice condition with a clear motif.

Provenance: private Murrieta, California, USA collection
