Beautiful Early 20th C. Brass & Malachite Pendant- Lot 154, Auction 4/29/2019
Sold
North America, ca. 1900 CE. A beautiful oval pendant with a brass setting presenting a ‘beaded’ border, an integral suspension loop with a smaller attached suspension ring, and four tab-shaped prongs which hold secure a wonderful polished malachite cabochon. The malachite displays vertical striations of several shades of green, and nicely complements the golden brass frame. Size: 2″ H (5.1 cm).
Condition: Overall excellent, with minor scratches and tarnishing to brass surfaces. Reverse shows adhesive residue securing malachite stone to perimeter frame. Suspension cord in photos for photography use only; however, the pendant would be wearable with the addition of a chain.
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection
