Ancient Near East, Sumerian, ca. 3000 to 2500 BCE. Carved from a single piece of white stone, a seal or stamp in the form of a pig or other snouted animal with the remains of a darker stone or glass eye inlay, nicely contoured musculature, and incised markings on the verso – perforated from top to bottom behind the head for suspension or attachment. Size: 2.375″ W x 1.125″ H (6 cm x 2.9 cm)

Condition: Front face is very smooth to the touch. Some loss to eye inlay though some remains. Encrustations on verso and in the perforations. Visible root marks and nice stone inclusions.
