Sold

Indonesia, Borneo, Central Kalimantan, Dayak peoples, early 20th century CE. A steel carving knife with a long, dark wood handle capped by a figure with a very tall, crest-like headdress. A sharp iron blade with abstract human faces carved in profile at its base and the end of the blade gives the piece a visually-pleasing symmetrical form. This style is known as a “poe” and was often paired with the mandau (headhunting sword). Size: 0.65″ W x 18.25″ H (1.7 cm x 46.4 cm)

Condition: Patina on wood surface, with some light encrustation in the lower profile areas. Blade is still very sharp!
