Native American, United States, Texas, Comanche culture, 19th century or earlier. A well-balanced stone maul or hammerhead composed of two opposing globular ends joined by a central groove for hafting. The symmetrical form and smoothed surfaces reflect repeated use, while the waist indentation allowed secure attachment to a handle. Size: 4.5″ L x 2.6″ W (11.4 cm x 6.6 cm)
Condition: Abrasions and pitting to surface, but intact and good condition.
Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection, acquired in Texas in 1969
