United States, World War II period, ca. 1944 CE. A substantial brass naval artillery shell casing stamped on the base “3 IN MK7 MOD1 50 CAL US HDH,” with an anchor emblem between the “U” and “S,” identifying it as U.S. Navy ordnance. Size: 4.25″ W x 17.75″ H (10.8 cm x 45.1 cm)

Condition: Conical cap might be from a different WWII era shell. Abrasions and indentations to surface. Areas of green patina.

Provenance: ex-private collection, Fairhaven, Massachusetts, USA, collected from 2010 to 2015
