Western Africa, Mali, Djenne, ca. 19th to early-20th century CE. A sturdy terracotta conical support post featuring a thick ring-shaped loop at the top used to receive wooden beams forming the structural base of a bedframe. The surface is decorated with bands of incised stippling and impressed textures, adding pattern and visual interest to the utilitarian form. Size: 8.5″ W x 12″ H (21.6 cm x 30.5 cm)

Condition: Repaired with visible breakline as shown along the loop. Chips and abrasions to surface. Earthen deposits on the interior.
