Nativ American / Pre-Columbian, Southwestern United States / Northern Mexico, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A carved fossil coral figure depicting a rotund animal form with a compact body and short legs. The creature appears rodent-like, though the abstraction allows for multiple interpretations, such as bison or bear. The head is blocky and forward-facing, with minimal facial detail. The surface retains the natural porous texture of the fossil coral, with small cavities visible throughout. Size: 6″ L x 25″ W x 3.25″ H (15.2 cm x 63.5 cm x 8.3 cm)

Condition: Loss to rear leg, and figure needs support to stay upright. Natural pitting and ossification to coral surface. Mineral and earthen deposits.
