East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. A collection of assorted smoking pipe bowls illustrating the wide range of materials and decorative approaches used in Chinese pipe production. The group includes three ceramic examples: two blue-and-white porcelain bowls, one decorated with auspicious symbols and the other with a landscape scene, and a jade-green glazed stoneware bowl. A carved wooden fist-form bowl bearing a shou longevity symbol on the underside, a brass bowl, a heavy cylindrical quartz stone, black quartzite fitted with a brass neck, and a bright red jasper with a brass neck. Size of largest: 2″ W x 2.25″ H (5.1 cm x 5.7 cm)

Condition: Scratches and patina to brass bowl. Sticker label and wax seal on a pottery bowl. Pitting and nicks to pottery bowls. Chips and abrasions to large quartz stone. All appear to be used conditions with patina and soot residue.
