Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec to Maya culture, ca. 500 BCE to 900 CE. A necklace composed of ancient jade and greenstone beads from Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, restrung with modern glass spacer beads for display and wear. The ancient elements include tubular, barrel, and irregular carved forms along with several sculptural bead pendants, all showing the characteristic pale to deep green tones valued throughout Mesoamerican cultures. Assembled in modern times on wire with a magnetic clasp. Size of strand: 22″ L (55.9 cm); central pendant: 0.7″ L x 0.5″ W (1.8 cm x 1.3 cm)
Condition: Strung in modern times and wearable with a magnet clasp. Glass spacer beads are modern and green stone beads are ancient. Chips and pitting to beads, with old loss to central pendant.
