Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala to Maya culture, ca. 600 BCE to 900 CE. An ancient greenstone and jadeite bead necklace assembled as a wearable strand. The beads include string-cut elements and shaped forms suggesting simplified zoomorphic figures, interspersed with cylindrical and irregular stone beads. At the center hangs a triangular stone pendant carved as a human face with stylized features and ear ornaments, serving as a strong focal element. Modern brass spacer beads and a magnetic clasp have been added for wearability. Size of strand: 24″ L (61 cm); bead face: 0.9″ L x 0.8″ W (2.3 cm x 2 cm)

Condition: Strung in modern times with modern gold toned brass spacer beads and a magnet clasp. Wearable.
