Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A compact anthropomorphic figure carved from mottled greenstone, rendered in the highly abstracted geometric style characteristic of Mezcala sculpture, with simplified head, torso, and legs formed by smooth planes and subtle ridges. Size: 3.75″ L x 1.5″ W (9.5 cm x 3.8 cm)

Condition: Light mineral deposits. Softening to details, but intact and excellent.

Provenance: private Colorado, USA collection; ex-private Los Angeles, California, USA collection; ex-major gallery, Beverly Hills, California, USA, primarily acquired between 1985 and 2005
