East Asia, Japan, Edo to Meiji period, ca. 19th century CE. A set of wakizashi koshirae fittings, featuring a black lacquered wooden saya accented with a kojiri of copper and silver inlay. The iron tsuba is decorated with scattered silver dots and linear perimeter motifs. Its tsuka is wrapped in white samegawa (ray skin) and fitted with a copper fuchi adorned with delicate gold and silver turnip motifs. Completing the ensemble are copper floral menuki, firmly adhered to the grip. Together, these elements form a handsome and cohesive antique koshirae ready to complement a properly sized blade. Size of saya sheath: 13.5″ L x 1.5″ W (34.3 cm x 3.8 cm)

Condition: Fittings only and blade is not included. Menuki charms are attached with glue adhesive. Wear and rubbing to gilt and silver areas, and patina to metal. Some chipping to lacquer on saya sheath.
