Egypt, early dynastic, ca. 2750 to 2649 BCE.A finely carved Early Dynastic stone vessel formed of pale Egyptian alabaster (calcite), the body rising in a tall, elegant profile with gently tapering sides and a subtly flared foot. The rim is thickened and softly rounded, creating a balanced, sculptural silhouette characteristic of early stone-working traditions. The surface shows natural tonal variation with warm cream to light russet hues and scattered mineral inclusions, consistent with the material and age. Size: 2.625″ W x 5″ H (6.7 cm x 12.7 cm)

Stone vessels of this type were luxury objects in the formative centuries of dynastic Egypt, valued for both their function and their refined craftsmanship.

Condition: Small chip to rim else intact and quite excellent.

Provenance: private Dodge collection; acquired from Arte Primitivo, auction 2025, collection of a Chicago physician acquired Arte Primitivo auction 94, lot #490. 2006. Ex. collection of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Feuer, NY., acquired 1970’s – 1980’s.
