North America, Western United States, Wyoming, Lance Formation, Late Cretaceous, ca. 69 to 66 million years ago. A fossilized caudal vertebra from the tail of an Edmontosaurus, a large herbivorous hadrosaurid dinosaur. The bone displays the characteristic spool-shaped centrum with projecting neural arch elements. Comes with a metal display stand for presentation, the specimen offers a compact and well-preserved example of dinosaur vertebral anatomy from one of North America’s most important fossil-bearing formations. Edmontosaurus was a social, duck-billed grazer of riverine and coastal-plain environments, capable of both bipedal and quadrupedal movement, with the tail helping balance and stabilize the torso. Size: 1.3″ L x 1.3″ W x 1.7″ H (3.3 cm x 3.3 cm x 4.3 cm); 4″ H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition: Comes with display stand. Repaired with faint hairline breaks across the neural spine projection area. Appears to be all original material.
