Lot 125a, Auction 3/19/2026: Petrified Wood Fossils, Three Polished Slabs

$260.00

In stock

Africa, Madagascar, early to mid-Triassic period, ca. 252 to 220 million years ago. A collection of three fossilized petrified wood slabs cut in cross section and polished to reveal dramatic interior contrast between deep black heartwood and pale cream to ivory sapwood. The polished faces display bold mineral banding and natural fracturing, with areas of quartz replacement creating subtle translucency and tonal variation in charcoal, brown, gray, and white. The irregular outer edges retain the organic contours of the original trunks, giving each slice a distinct silhouette. These substantial specimens are well suited for display as striking natural history accents or for functional use as tabletop coasters or small serving trays. Size of largest: 14″ L x 10″ W (35.6 cm x 25.4 cm)

Condition: Cut and polished. Some scratches, nicks, and abrasions.

Provenance: private West Covina, California, USA collection
