Lot 121, Auction 3/19/2026: Prehistoric French Acheulean Flint Scraper Tool
$585.00
In stock
Western Europe, Paleolithic, Acheulean period, ca. 1,000,000 to 200,000 years ago. A substantial scraper tool knapped from flint, displaying broad flake scars and a gently curved working edge shaped through deliberate percussion. A flat flake fits naturally against the fingers when held, offering a secure and comfortable grip during use. Acheulean scrapers such as this were essential multipurpose implements, used for hide processing, woodworking, and general cutting tasks. The balance between cutting edge and handhold reflects an early understanding of ergonomics and efficiency. Size: 3.75″ L x 2.5″ W (9.5 cm x 6.4 cm)
Condition: Intact and excellent.
Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection, acquired prior to 2002
