Ancient Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. An immense redware storage jar with a broad ovoid body, short neck, and distinctive twin m-shaped loop handles set high on the shoulder. The surface retains a warm reddish slip, the burnishing still visible despite ancient wear. Substantially heavy, the vessel was likely used as a utilitarian storage container, possibly for provisions or liquid transport. Size: 15″ Diameter x 19″ H (38.1 cm x 48.3 cm)
Condition: Abrasions and chips throughout, with losses to burnished surface layers.
