North America, Western United States, South Dakota, Hell Creek Formation, Cretaceous, ca. 68 to 65.5 million years ago. A fossilized Edmontosaurus tooth preserved in natural matrix, representing a Late Cretaceous hadrosaurid herbivore whose complex dental batteries were adapted for grinding tough vegetation some 71 to 65 million years ago. Size: 3.6″ W x 2.6″ H (9.1 cm x 6.6 cm); 2.8″ H (7.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Damaged. Tooth is fragmentary as shown. Natural chips and stable fissures to matrix. Earthen encrustations throughout.
