Colima Pottery Male Figures – Trio of Standing Forms (Auction 2026-05-15, Lot 15)

Sold

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A cohesive trio of Colima pottery standing male figures, each wearing a loincloth, with two depicted in a composed pose with hands clasped at the torso while the third raises both hands to the neck, suggesting a moment of ritual gesture or introspective stillness. Size: 2.5″ W x 5.3″ H (6.4 cm x 13.5 cm)

Provenance: private Colorado, USA collection; ex-private Los Angeles, California, USA collection; ex-major gallery, Beverly Hills, California, USA, primarily acquired between 1985 and 2005

One has loss to decorative element on loincloth. All have expected weathering with nicks and abrasions. Otherwise, nice remaining detail and scattered earthen deposits throughout.
