1887 to 1892 Queen Victoria Jubilee Stamps, 29 Assorted (Auction 2026-06-05, Lot 271A)
$2,313.00
Western Europe, Great Britain, ca. 19th century CE. A group of 29 Great Britain Queen Victoria Jubilee postage and revenue stamps issued to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign. Each stamp bears the crowned portrait of Victoria within ornate late nineteenth-century frames and is printed on paper with the Imperial Crown watermark, a crown device embedded in the paper verso. The set includes a range of denominations in varied colors, notably the yellow 3 pence (3d) stamp. The group is mounted on paper, likely assembled for philatelic presentation in a album. Size of stamps: 0.9″ L x 0.75″ W (2.3 cm x 1.9 cm); paper: 8.5″ L x 5.5″ W (21.6 cm x 14 cm)
Provenance: private Sheffield, Massachusetts, USA collection
Condition: Good. The stamps are affixed with tape to a page that appears to have been removed from a collector’s album and later cut in half as shown; while mounted, the stamps appear visually intact, and it is possible they could be carefully removed and rehoused for more appropriate long-term preservation. Stamps show typical age-related toning and light handling wear, with margins and centering varying by example, but remain generally well preserved overall.
