Lot of 2 Viking Silver Rings - 2.8 grams

Northern Europe, Viking culture, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A pair of fascinating objects, both made of silver, both decorative rings. One is of the style of an "iron ribbon torque," with hooked terminals. The other is a simple ring with a twisted motif incised around it. Could these be grave goods for a very small child? Perhaps. They may also have been decorative items for wearing attached to the clothing of an adult or adolescent. Size of largest: 3.95" W (10 cm); 2.8 grams of silver total

Condition: Slight bending to form and dark patina.

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection
