$125.00
Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 17th century CE. A cast-bronze cross with an integral suspension loop, a central tsata, and an interior Orthodox cross which is flanked by the symbolic spear and vinegar stick, two instruments of the Passion. The monogram uPbC (King of Glory) is above the interior cross, and IC XC (Jesus Christ) is on each respective lateral terminal. Beneath the slanted crossbar is the image of Adam's skull in the cave, and MP (the place of the skull has become paradise) is underneath that. The verso is unadorned, and there are remnants of the original yellow enamel on the obverse side. A lustrous russet-hued patina covers both sides of the cross. Size: 1.125" W x 1.8" H (2.9 cm x 4.6 cm).

Condition: Age-commensurate surface wear, slight bending to overall form, minor fading to lettering and details, with original yellow enamel remnants on obverse side and russet-hued patina throughout. Integral suspension loop as shown.
