Roman Gold Ring w/ Carnelian Intaglio, 4.3 g

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A beautiful gold ring comprised of 88% gold (equivalent to 21K+ gold) with a thick band, gradually-expanding shoulders, and a raised bezel surrounded with concentric ovals. Within the bezel is a delicately-carved, wine-hued carnelian intaglio with a carved scene depicting a hooved satyr seated upon a stone outcropping with a small goat in his lap. A fabulous example of wearable Roman artistry! Size (ring): 0.875" W x 0.95" H (2.2 cm x 2.4 cm); size (intaglio): 0.4" L x 0.25" W (1 cm x 0.6 cm); US ring size 7.5; quality of gold: 88% (equivalent to 21K+); total weight: 4.3 grams.

Condition: Wearable as shown. Both intaglio and gold ring are ancient. Slight bending to band and overall form, with light indentations, and minor abrasions to ring and intaglio, otherwise intact and excellent. Light earthen deposits within some recessed areas.
