Collection of 8 Roman Glass Bangles / Bracelets

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A lovely ensemble of eight glass bracelets, most of a rather petite size suggesting that they were created for children or petite women. Several present rather dark cobalt or rich black hues. One of the smaller bangles stands out for its ridged decoration running the entire circumference and colorful rainbow iridescence over the glass' rich cobalt hues. One of the larger bracelets features yellow, aqua, green, and red applied glass drops adorning the slender profile of the black glass bangle. Size: largest measures 2.625" in diameter (6.7 cm)

Condition: Several show expected weathering film and several are repaired from a few pieces. Areas of rainbow iridescence grace most of the bracelets.

Provenance: private Davis collection, Houston, Texas, USA
