20K+ Gold & Roman Chalcedony Intaglio Ring - 9.1 g

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A beautiful signet ring comprised of an ancient Roman oval chalcedony intaglio of pale lavendar hues depicting a seated god - perhaps Jupiter (Greek Zeus) or Neptune (Greek Poseidon) - holding a staff or trident in his right hand - and a modern 20K+ gold setting. A wonderful piece of wearable art! Size: intaglio measures .375" L x .3" W (1 cm x 0.8 cm); opening measures .875" in diameter (2.2 cm); US ring size: 6.5; total weight: 9.1 grams.

Condition: Intaglio is ancient. Gold setting is modern. Normal age wear to intaglio, but imagery is still discernible. Gold setting is very good.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection
