19th C. Russian Enameled Brass Traveling Icon

Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 19th century CE. A cast brass and enameled traveling icon depicting the Crucifixion in the upper onion-dome shaped panel and four scenes from the Life of Christ in the quadrated section below. The icon demonstrates sophisticated artistry, religious iconography, and a stunning aesthetic as the blue, green, yellow-orange, and white enamel sections embellish the brass relief so beautifully. Perforated at top center. Size: 3.875" W x 6.5" H (9.8 cm x 16.5 cm)

Condition: Losses to right edge. Normal surface wear with losses to enamel, though much remains.
