Robert Rauschenberg (American, 1925-2008), original color lithograph, untitled #15 for “One Cent Life”, published by Bern, Kornfeld, 1964. Robert Rauschenberg along with 27 of his Pop Art contemporaries made lithographic illustrations for a volume of poems by Walasse Ting entitled, “One Cent Life.” Raushenberg’s work was joined by the works of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jim Dine, Robert Indiana, and many others of that period. Attached to the mat is a photostat of publication notes describing the regular as well as special edition printed on handmade paper, all numbered and signed by artists, “20 New York Edition; 20 Paris Edition; 20 Rest of the world; 40 reserved for the participating artists and collaborators; Lithography by Maurice Beaudet, Paris; Typography by Georges Girard, Paris. “One Cent Life” was a limited edition book that contained 68 original color lithographs to accompany the poetry of Walasse Ting. Some of the artists featured included Robert Indiana, Jim Dine, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Mitchell, Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, and Robert Rauschenberg. Gallery Kornfeld in Bern became the publisher and had an exhibition for the book in 1964 upon its publication.
