Ancient Central Asia, Pakistan / Afghanistan, Bactrian, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A stunning and exotic necklace comprised of twelve disc-shaped carnelian beads, approximately twenty deep blue paste glass beads of varying shapes, a similar number of gold-colored glass beads, four Phoenician-inspired black and white millefiori glass beads, and two blue and white glass beads. Three crescent-shaped pendants – two made of teal faience and one made of a taupe stone, possibly agate – complete the composition. The varied nature of the beads is a testament to the many influences from east and west that were part of Bactrian culture. Strung using modern materials and absolutely wearable! Size of pendants: 0.8″ W x 0.8″ H (2 cm x 2 cm); length of strand: 23″ L (58.4 cm)
