Etruscan Bronze Amphora – Elegant Form- Lot 72, Auction 7/5/2018

Classical World, Etruria, central Italy, ca. 600 to 400 BCE. An elegant, beautiful cast bronze amphora with a slender body, carinated shoulder, and diminutive foot and neck. Twin vertical loop handles project out from the neck and meet the wide, round flared mouth of the vessel. This item may have been made for holding precious oils or unguents, but it was most likely made to be placed into a grave in commemoration of the dead. Size: 2.3″ W x 6.05″ H (5.8 cm x 15.4 cm)

Condition: Deep green, smooth patina. A few small surface nicks commensurate with age and handling.
