Sold
Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, Dynasties 26 through 310, ca. 662 to 320 BCE. Interesting small bronze sarcophagus with a small shrew on top. The sarcophagus is of typical rectangular open form, with a hollowed out lower section which would have contained the mummified shrew, carefully wrapped in linen. An interesting example of ancient Egyptian art! Size: 2″ L x 1″ H (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm).
Condition: Seems to be missing one end, surface with crystalline verdigris
Provenance: Ex – Albanese collection
