Cambodian Khmer Bronze Standing Buddha

Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer Empire (Angkor culture), ca. 800 to 1300 CE. A classic example of a Khmer-period standing Buddha figure, here depicted pre-Enlightenment, in his finery as Prince Siddhartha. Both his hands are raised, with forefinger and thumb touching, in the Abhay Gyan Mudra, meant to indicate and inspire fearlessness. The level of detail on the figure is wonderful, with clear patterns on his clothing and ornate jewelry. He stands on a simple, square pedestal. Size: 1.25" W x 4.1" H (3.2 cm x 10.4 cm)

Condition: Nice pale green patina with fine remaining detail and light encrustation. Old collection number written on the base.

Provenance: private S.S. collection, Los Angeles, California, USA
