Roman Iron and Jasper Intaglio Ring with Birds

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A handsome ring with an octagonal red jasper intaglio that depicts a pair of birds - perhaps pheasants - perched upon a branch, set in a substantial iron bezel with a rounded shank. Size: .375" L x .5" W (1 cm x 1.3 cm); US ring size 4.5

Condition: Expected wear with scratches and abraded areas to the iron shank. The intaglio shows slight wear but is generally very well preserved.
