Roman Carnelian Intaglio / Silver Ring

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely hand-carved carnelian intaglio of warm red-orange hues depicting a left-facing bull with tall horns and a muscular body. The intaglio is circular in form with beveled sides and set within the wide bezel of a modern high-quality sterling silver ring. A wonderful and wearable example of fine Roman craftsmanship! Condition: Wearable as shown. Intaglio is ancient and silver ring setting is modern. Intaglio has surface wear and minor abrasions commensurate with age, light fading to incised imagery, and some light roughness along topside, otherwise intact and very good. Silver ring has light tarnishing.
