Single Islamic Gold Openwork Earring w/ Birds - 2.3 g

Medieval Islamic world, ca. 10th to 12th century CE. A single gorgeous gold openwork earring comprised of 92% gold (equivalent to 22K+), crescent shaped beneath a broad, rounded hoop that is split at one side to allow it to be fitted into an ear. The openwork motif features two peacock-like birds with enormous sprays of tail feathers, facing each other around a palm-like floral motif at the center. Size: 1.05" W x 1.3" H (2.7 cm x 3.3 cm); gold quality: 92% or equivalent to 22K+; total weight: 2.3 grams.

Condition: Slight bending to form. Motifs are beautifully preserved. Could easily be made into a wearable pendant.
