Canaanite Bronze Duck Bill Axe Head

Ancient Near East, the Levant, Canaanite people, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A cast-bronze axe head with an ovoid socket, a ribbed tong-shaped blade, and two elliptical piercings to each face extending to the socket. Beautiful layers of green and russet patina cover the entirety of the axe head form. Size: 1.625" W x 3.75" H (4.1 cm x 9.5 cm).

Condition: Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, and light roughness across most surfaces, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and great green and russet patina throughout.
